H1N1

By reading today’s news paper, Malaysia is the highest death rate in Asia region which has death rate frequency is 1 in 60 cases (based on The Sun newspapre data).  What is the meaning on translate from the num?  Malaysia is poor in dealing the pandemic or Malaysian is not alert enough on the preventive/careless on the symptom?

Everyday by looking at the news, I will feel sad.  The is few cases for new born baby who has only reach this world few months only and cause of H1N1 and death.  The virus is spread fast, so we need to be more care on taking care our family members.  If any of them have below symptoms, please wear the masks and consult your doctor to seek for immediate medical  care.  Protect yourself and protect your family. 

Symptoms:

  • High fever
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Body aches
  • Congestion
  • Occasionally vomiting and diarrhea

For the baby or children, they are not able to explain how they are feeling it, so the important thing is keep an eye out for children who are having difficulty breathing.   If any small children or other in high risk groups, any of following serious warning signs, need to seek for immediate emergency medical care

  • Fast breathing or trouble breathing, Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
  • Bluish or gray skin color
  • Not drinking enough fluids
  • persistent Vomiting
  • Not waking up or not interacting
  • The symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
  • Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held

So to protect your family, you need to know how to prevent it.

  • Wash your hand with soap frequently – the virus can live for up to 2 hours on surfaces like doorknobs, telephones and etcs.
  • Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth.  The germs spread very quickly
  • If possible, cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing.  After coughing and sneezing, wash your hands with warm water and soap.  Rub both sides of your soapy hands for at least 15 seconds and rinse with water.
  • Wear mask when go to any public place.  If possible, avoid go to any public place. 
  • Postpone the travel if possible
